I have a quick question: If my GPU is almost maxed out while I'm gaming, would connecting my second monitor to the motherboard instead of the GPU help with performance when I'm just watching videos?

No, it won't help at all. If your GPU is already busy with gaming on one monitor, adding another task by plugging in a second monitor will just burden it more instead of aiding performance. It's like trying to make a struggling car climb a hill easier by turning on the AC—it's just not going to help!

Honestly, you probably won't notice any difference. Even if you plug the second monitor into the motherboard, the load on your GPU remains high from gaming, so there's no real relief there.

I see where you're coming from now. Plugging into the motherboard won’t really ease the GPU load unless you're using software that can switch playback to the CPU exclusively. But even then, video playback doesn't take up much of your system's resources compared to gaming, so the difference might be negligible.

Thanks for clarifying! I was just curious if it would have any effect.
