I recently built my first PC and I'm waiting for my SSD to arrive. Everything is set up except for the SSD. I attempted to update the BIOS of my GIGABYTE B650E AORUS Elite X AX Ice using a flash drive, but it didn't work. When I power on the PC, the CPU LED on the motherboard lights up. I'm worried I might have messed something up during the BIOS update process. Just so you know, I wasn't sure if the red light was already on before the update attempt; previously, the PC turned on fine but didn't display any BIOS screen. What should I do?

It sounds like you may need to take everything off the motherboard, plug in your flash drive, and retry the BIOS update. It’s often helpful to start fresh to eliminate potential issues.
You can definitely boot into BIOS without an SSD. Make sure your CPU is compatible with the current BIOS version—check the label on the motherboard box against the compatibility list on the manufacturer’s website. Also, don’t forget to reset the CMOS and check that all power connections are secure. Sometimes using a single RAM stick can help too. If using Q-Flash Plus, follow the manual closely for the update steps. If all else fails, double-check that your CPU is seated correctly.
You should be fine without the SSD for accessing the BIOS. Just make sure you have the CPU and RAM installed. If your CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics, you’ll need a discrete GPU as well.
