I'm setting up a small business and I have a Synology NAS already. The plan was to run QuickBooks on a VM, but I've hit some serious performance issues with that approach. So, I connected an old PC to the SAN network via wired connection, but its wireless LAN slows things down way too much. I'm wondering if there are any NUC-sized PCs that offer at least two 1GB LAN ports? I need something that won't look out of place since it'll be on the CFO's desk – he's not happy about having extra devices around, and his assistant mentioned she'll find a way to make it more presentable.

What's the CFO's issue with the devices? Is it the PC, the Synology, or just having two gadgets visible? Why not consolidate things and use a single PC with internal drives?
If you're seeking a smaller PC with multiple network ports, people often look for them for pfsense routers. The Topton NUCs or similar models are quite popular for that purpose.
Honestly, have you thought about not complicating things? Using iSCSI might be slower and less reliable compared to just using internal storage. Why not run QuickBooks directly on a PC and back it up using Synology Active Backup for Business instead?
Is this for QuickBooks Desktop? Because running it on a VM isn’t really supported; that could explain your issues. Have you considered moving to a cloud solution?
