Can I Connect Only Two PCIe Cables from My GPU to the PSU?

Hey everyone! I have a bit of a basic question, but I'm just getting back into building PCs after over 20 years. I recently bought an RX 9070 XT, and it came with a PCIe cable that has three connectors. The problem is that my PSU only has two PCIe ports available. Is it okay if I just use the two that I have? What are my options here?

You actually need to plug in all three connectors to avoid issues. It's crucial for performance and stability.

Nope, you should definitely connect all three. Sounds like you may need to upgrade your PSU too!

You'll need to use all three PCIe connectors on the GPU for it to function properly. What exact model is your PSU by the way?

There are also some cables that fork at the end for the GPU, allowing you to connect multiple connectors from a single cable. It's not the most ideal setup, but the RX 9070 XT isn't too power-hungry, so it might work. Just a heads up though, using one cable for all three might not be the most reliable option.

It's generally recommended to use all three, but you might get away with using two if one of your cables has two connectors on it, though it could put some strain on the cable. In most cases, I'd suggest looking into a new PSU with more PCIe inputs.
