I'm considering setting up a dual boot with Windows and OpenSUSE on my single SSD. I've run Linux systems before but have never tried dual booting. I'm worried about potential problems, like Windows updates breaking GRUB. I really don't want to jeopardize my Windows installation since it has some crucial software I need. I'm fine if Linux encounters issues but Windows must remain intact. Any thoughts on this?

I've been dual booting Windows for years and honestly, I've never had a Windows update mess up GRUB. It seems like it might just be a luck thing. But just in case something does happen, you can easily fix GRUB using a live USB, so it's not a huge headache.
I dual boot OpenSUSE with Windows 11, and have had no issues at all after Windows updates. I mainly keep Windows for a few office files, but otherwise, I don't use it much.
Restoring GRUB is pretty straightforward if it gets broken. You just need a live USB with a Linux installer and a simple terminal command. It’s usually not hard unless you're in a rush or don’t have the USB on hand, which is when Murphy's law kicks in!
