I'm currently monitoring an employee's emails at management's request, and I've set up a Mail Flow rule in Office 365 to BCC all incoming emails to their supervisor without the employee being aware. However, the supervisor is going on vacation and will have an Out of Office reply activated. I'm concerned about whether the original senders and the monitored employee will receive these automatic replies. Any insights on how this will work would be really appreciated!

It's a good idea to test it out first with a test account just to be sure how it behaves. Better to see it in action than to guess!
Have you thought about just delegating access to the mailbox instead of forwarding everything? It might be easier for the supervisor to manage that way.
I did consider that, but the supervisor prefers everything to be directly in front of them for quick access. Still, it might be safer to disable the BCC rule while they're away.
True, but keep in mind that users can see who has delegate access, which might not be ideal if you want to keep this under wraps.
From what I understand, the original senders won't get Out of Office replies since the supervisor is BCC'd by that mail flow rule. Exchange typically doesn't send autoreplies for hidden recipients, so the monitored employee shouldn't receive anything either.
That makes sense! I'm relieved to know that the original senders won’t see the OOO replies. Just hoping the monitored employee doesn’t catch any hints either.

Absolutely! When you're uncertain, testing is the way to go.
