I'm in the middle of building my own PC during this tricky time of RAM shortages. I plan to load it up with RAM for local AI and virtual machine use, and I found a dual channel kit with 128 GB of RAM, but it has a CL timing of 45. I'm wondering if this will affect my performance in tasks like video editing, gaming, and Photoshop. Essentially, I'm trying to figure out if I have to choose between high RAM with slower speeds or lower RAM with faster speeds. Is the difference between CL-32 and CL-45 noticeable for everyday activities?

Think about it this way: if there were a RAM kit that was both large and fast, it would probably cost a small fortune. It's almost always a trade-off between size and speed.
Are you going for an Intel or AMD build? AMD's AM5 can struggle with four DIMMs while Intel handles high memory clock rates better. If your tasks are memory-intensive like running large language models, faster RAM could be more beneficial. Gaming may also suffer with high latency!
For video editing and Photoshop, you should be okay with CL45, but definitely expect a hit in gaming performance since latency can really make a difference, especially if you're not using an X3D CPU.
