Can I Mix Different RAM Brands at 3200MHz for an Upgrade?

Hey everyone! I need some help with upgrading my RAM. Right now, I have a 16GB (2x8GB) AORUS RGB Memory kit that runs at 3200MHz with specific timings and voltage details. I want to boost my RAM to 32GB and found a good deal on a G.SKILL Trident Z RGB kit, which also runs at 3200MHz with the same timings and voltage. My main concern is whether these two different brands will work well together, or should I just sell my current kit and buy a new matching 32GB kit instead? I'd love to hear your thoughts or any experiences you have with mixing RAM like this! Thanks!

I'd say it's probably safest to stick with one kit. However, if you can check the fabrication (like SK Hynix M-die), and they match, you might be okay mixing them. Just something to consider!

I mixed Corsair Vengeance 3200 and Ballistix before, and it worked perfectly fine on the Ballistix XMP profile. Later, even when I switched to more Corsair Vengeance, they all ran at XMP speed without any hiccups. Just a heads up though, DDR5 isn't as forgiving if you're thinking about future upgrades!

Mixing RAM brands usually works, but they will operate at the speed of the slowest stick. There's a slight chance they won't work together at all, though! If you really want the best performance, sticking to one kit is typically recommended. Plus, dual-channel setups with two sticks often perform better than just one or four sticks.

You should be fine! Since both kits are DDR4 and share the same timings and voltage, they should work together. Just remember to test them with something like Memtest after installing and setting XMP. The chances of running into issues are quite low.

Honestly, it might not be a good idea to mix them. I’d suggest selling your current kit and just getting a full 32GB kit instead.

But remember, it's DDR4. They should work fine together!
