I'm looking to play the original World of Warcraft with my partner, but I currently have a Chromebook instead of a full laptop. I'm aware that my Chromebook might not have enough storage for the game, so I'm considering using an external hard drive. However, I'm unsure if this will be sufficient or if other limitations (like RAM) will prevent the game from running properly. Any advice on whether this setup could work?

First, check your Chromebook's specs like CPU and memory. If you've got 4GB of RAM but only 1.6GB available, that's going to be a problem for running WoW, regardless of storage. Your CPU also needs to be strong enough to handle games. You might want to explore using cloud gaming services like GeForce Now or Shadow PC since Chromebooks generally struggle with running games natively due to limited resources.
From my experience, Chromebooks aren’t the best for gaming since most software isn’t designed for ChromeOS. I remember dual-booting another OS from a flash drive to play games, but even then, I wouldn’t recommend it for RAM-intensive games. WoW isn't massive, but you're likely to hit performance issues.
