I recently revived my old laptop, but I'm having trouble accessing it because it won't accept my updated Microsoft Live password, even though I'm using the same email. I'm mainly trying to recover some old photos. Is it possible to remove the hard drive and access the files directly from it?

For sure, you can access the hard drive! Just make sure your new system has the right port for it. If there's encryption involved like BitLocker, that could complicate things, though. If it's unencrypted, you should be fine with a USB enclosure.
Just a heads up, if it was BitLocker encrypted, you might need the recovery key. Are you sure you’ve tried all the recovery options from Microsoft? Since the laptop is quite old, it could be glitching out, but there might still be a way in.

How do I find the recovery key? Is it in my Microsoft account? I'm not sure if I've exhausted all options; it’s my first time dealing with this. The laptop has my old profile picture, and I’ve tried various passwords but nothing works.
