I'm planning to build a new mATX PC and I have a 10th gen i5 from my old prebuilt Plex server. My wife wants to be able to do some light gaming, and I checked the compatibility list for the new motherboard I'm looking at—and it shows my CPU is compatible. Since I've never reused parts from a prebuilt before, I wanted to ask if there are any reasons I shouldn't reuse this CPU before I spend a lot of money on new components.

As long as it fits your new build and doesn’t bottleneck performance, you’re all set! I had an old i5 for a couple of years in my setup before I upgraded, and it handled everything just fine, even basic gaming.
Honestly, if you're happy with the performance of your i5 and it's still working well, there's no reason not to use it. Unless you're aiming for super high frame rates, it should be fine for light gaming!
Exactly! For light gaming, an i5 is still decent, especially if it’s not something graphically intense.
