I'm having trouble with my laptop's memory usage. Whenever I have just a single program running, my memory usage hits about 90%. When nothing is open, it still sits around 50%. I've tried closing unnecessary processes, but the laptop feels sluggish. I just upgraded to Windows 11, but it was already slow on Windows 10 too. Is the operating system really taking up that much memory? What options do I have to improve my laptop's performance? It's a Lenovo with 8GB of RAM, integrated AMD graphics, and a half-full 250GB SSD.

With only 8GB of RAM, your laptop is starting to feel outdated, especially if you can upgrade it. If your laptop allows it, bumping the RAM to 16GB could be your easiest fix!
Upgrading to Windows 11 might not be the best move for your older laptop. Consider switching to a lightweight Linux distribution instead. It could help free up memory and speed things up.
So is Windows the main issue? I’ve never used Linux before. Can I downgrade to an earlier version of Windows?
I really recommend going for 16GB if your laptop can handle it. It can make a huge difference in performance, especially when multitasking.
I’m not sure about upgrading on this model, but I’ll look into it.
I’ll definitely check into that! Are there any workarounds or can I revert to the original OS?
