I recently got a 12vhpwr to dual 8-pin adapter to achieve a sleeker look for my setup. However, I noticed that the adapter only has 6 pins for each connection instead of the full 8. Check the compatibility with your PSU. If it's the EVGA 600 GD, be cautious! That setup with a Chinese brand adapter could be risky. If it’s labeled for 300W but using any sort of subpar adapter, I wouldn’t bet on it. Stick to known brands for adapters if you can.
It sounds like you might be pushing it with that adapter. Ideally, you want to use two full PCIe 8-pin connectors to hit 300 Watts. The 6-pin version you're using can provide up to 150 Watts, but it doesn't mean it's safe to max it out. Having those ground pins is important for distributing the load and keeping things cool.
