Can I safely use a 13A extension cord for my PC with a 750 Watt PSU?

Hey everyone! I live in an area with really reliable electricity and a UPS isn't necessary for me. As a newbie to PCs, I'm wondering if it's okay to plug my 750 Watt power supply into a 13A extension cord. Any advice?

As long as you’re not doing anything super power-heavy like mining, your setup should be safe. Most devices don’t constantly pull max power—your computer likely draws less than its peak wattage most of the time. Just keep an eye on the ratings for both your PSU and the extension cord.

Got it, thanks for the clarity!

Your PSU probably won't draw the full 750W consistently, so with a 13A extension cord, you're likely in the clear. Just make sure it's in good condition and not overheating. Also, a quality surge protector is a smart investment, just in case!

Thanks for the tips, I will definitely get a surge protector!

Just remember to avoid chaining a power strip into an extension cord. It might be tempting, but it can lead to fire hazards. Directly plugging your PC or a power strip into the extension is the way to go!

You're actually more than fine! If you're using a 230V supply, your 750W draw translates to about 3.2A, which is well below the limit of a 13A extension. Just keep everything in good shape, and you should be totally fine!

You're good to go as long as your extension cord isn't cheap junk. I've got a similar setup with my PC, and it's fine! Just ensure you're not overloading it with too many high-draw devices on the same cord.

That's reassuring! I think my extension cord is of decent quality.
