I found a Corsair RM750x power supply that I had stored in the attic for about two or three years. It's been in a pretty extreme environment, with summer temperatures reaching around 35°C and winter dropping to about -30°C. I thought I had sold it, but it looks perfect. How can I safely test it to see if it still works? I'm hesitant to ruin a good piece of hardware without taking the right precautions.

To test it, you can short the power pin (often referred to as PS-On) to ground. First, check for any smoke when you power it on, and if all seems well, you can use a multimeter to measure the voltages. If you don’t have a multimeter yet, they're pretty cheap—Harbor Freight and Amazon have them for under $10. Once the voltages check out, try connecting it to an old motherboard to see if it powers up properly.

You might also want to consider getting a PSU tester; they're available on Amazon and aren't too expensive.
