Can I track down my stolen iPad in a big apartment building?

Hey everyone! A few months back, my iPad was stolen, but thankfully I still have *Find My* enabled. The problem is, it keeps showing an address that's a large apartment complex with tons of units. I've tried going to the building, but I have no idea which specific apartment my iPad is in. Is there any way to get more precise info on its location, maybe through Apple or law enforcement? I know *Find My* doesn't give exact apartment numbers, but I'm really stuck here. Any help or shared experiences would be awesome! Oh, and it's the 11-inch M1 iPad Pro, WiFi only.

You could try setting off the alarm and waiting in the hallway to see if you can hear it. But honestly, it sounds like you're pretty much out of luck unless the thief moves it somewhere else.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it went for my brother too. His iPad was showing up at a self-storage place, and the manager was nice enough to help him check every aisle. Unfortunately, they never heard the alarm, so there was no way to pinpoint it down.

Unfortunately, *Find My* wasn't built for recovering stolen items; it’s mainly for lost devices. It doesn’t account for situations where someone might be actively keeping your device away from you, so it won’t give you exact locations like apartment numbers.
