I run a website where potential customers can fill out a contact form. I'm trying to find out if there's a way to track the IP address of users who submit the form, especially since the recent submissions didn't include any names or contact details. I'm a bit worried it could be an old employee trying to cause trouble, and understanding the IP could help me figure this out. Could anyone explain how this works in simple terms? By the way, my site is hosted on GoDaddy.

Unfortunately, tracking an IP address isn’t as straightforward as it seems in movies. As an average user, you usually can’t just see IP addresses from submissions. You'd need to check server logs, but even then, knowing an IP doesn't give you much info beyond the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and a rough location, which might not be accurate. For example, my own IP shows Nashville, TN even though I actually live quite a distance away.
