Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice regarding my MSI B350 Mortar Arctic motherboard. I currently have a Ryzen 5 1400, but I know that won't work with Windows 11. Can someone suggest a compatible CPU that I can use with my motherboard to run Windows 11 before the deadline in October? Thanks for any help!

Your B350 motherboard supports all AM4 CPUs, even up to the Ryzen 5950X. To smoothly run Windows 11, consider upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5700X. Just update your BIOS, and you'll see a significant performance boost for around $140. However, your Ryzen 1400 is also still technically compatible based on Microsoft’s guidelines, but an upgrade will give you better performance for your money. For Windows 11, it’s important to have the right BIOS settings enabled, not just a compatible CPU. Make sure to update your BIOS to the latest version—this will set the necessary options like disabling CSM, enabling fTPM, and securing boot.
Actually, Windows 11 has specific CPU requirements. You'll need at least a Ryzen 2000 series or higher, so your Ryzen 1400 won't cut it unless you use modified installation methods.
Yes, if you update your BIOS, you should have no problem installing a newer AM4 chip. Just make sure to enable fTPM and the required settings in the BIOS.
Wow, that’s better news than I expected! Looks like I can survive this upgrade. I spotted the Ryzen 2600 as the oldest compatible processor, so I’ll keep that in mind.
