Hey everyone! I've got an Intel i3 12th gen with an H610m motherboard and an RTX 2060. Recently, I got my hands on an i9 12900f, and I'm curious if my motherboard can support it, along with my 120mm Tgt Spartel 120 Water Cooler. I'm not in a position to spend any money right now, but I don't want to miss out on this upgrade opportunity. Can my current setup handle the i9?

Honestly, the i9 might not be the best fit for your H610m motherboard. It should technically be compatible, but the motherboard's VRMs might struggle to handle the heat and power from such a powerful CPU. I’d suggest running it at stock settings for now, and you could potentially try undervolting it to manage temperatures. Just keep an eye on things!

But my friend recently got an i7-12700kf and is thinking of trading it with me. It says 'unlocked' on the box—what does that mean? Is the i7 a good option?
