Hey everyone! So I have a three-monitor setup. Two of my monitors are 1080p (1920x1080), and the third is a 1440p (2560x1440). To keep things uniform, I set the two 1080p monitors to run at a custom resolution of 1440p using the NVIDIA Control Panel. While this gives me more screen space and maintains consistent scaling, I'm noticing some blurriness and slight performance drops. My questions are:
1. Is it okay to run the 1080p monitors at a 1440p resolution like this, or should I stick with their native 1080p?
2. Are there long-term downsides to this setup, like GPU stress or text clarity issues?
3. Would Windows 11 manage this setup better than Windows 10 in terms of performance and scaling?
Thanks for your help!

Your computer is sending a 1440p signal to the monitors, but the monitors physically can only display 1080p. So, you won't actually get a genuine 1440p experience; it will just downsample back to 1080p. This means more workload on your GPU for no real benefit, making it work harder to create that image. You're making your setup less efficient without getting any extra pixels.
Running 1080p monitors at 1440p can put more strain on your GPU since it’s trying to push out 1440p graphics but downscales it to fit the monitor. Think of it like trying to pedal faster on a low gear when you could easily shift to a higher gear. In short, if you want a smoother experience, it’s usually better to get a proper 1440p monitor instead.
That's like revving a car to go faster than it can actually go! Just makes no sense.
