Can I use a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 cable for 180Hz at 1440p?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out if I can connect my laptop to a new monitor. My laptop has an HDMI 2.1 port, while my monitor (the Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - G2725D) has two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DP 1.4 port. I need to achieve 180Hz at 1440p, but the monitor only supports up to 144Hz on the HDMI ports. Since my laptop doesn't have a DisplayPort, I'm considering buying a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 cable, but I'm unsure if that will work for what I need. Any advice? Thanks!

Actually, you may have more options than you think! One of the USB-C ports on your Alienware M15 R7 supports DisplayPort 1.4. This means you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to directly connect it to your monitor. This setup should allow you to hit higher refresh rates without any issues!
