Can I Use a New Cable for My GPU with an Older PSU?

I'm upgrading my GPU to an RTX 5070 and I have an EVGA Supernova G2 850W PSU. I've checked compatibility online and it looks good, but I found a site that says I need to connect three cables to power the GPU. I'm planning to get a cable from Cablemod, but my question is: do I have to use three separate cables as the site suggests, or can I just use the Cablemod cable?

Just a heads up on the connectors: the GPU end uses a 12VHPWR/12V-2x6 setup, and the other end has 8-pin connectors that go into the PSU, and you can choose between 2, 3, or 4 x 8-pin connectors for flexibility.

I have a similar Cablemod cable for my G3 with a 4070 Super, and it works perfectly. A G2 should have no problems with a 5070 using that cable. You're all set!

Awesome, thanks! I'm just trying to decide between the 2x8, 3x8, or 4x8 options.

You can use the Cablemod cable as long as it's compatible with your PSU model. Just make sure to check the specifications because modular cables aren't universal. If it fits, you're likely good to go!

Gotcha! I'll dig out my old cable box to see what I can find since it's been a while.
