Can I Use a USB Power Brick as a UPS for My Router?

I just got a GLI router that connects via a USB C port. I'm wondering if I can plug it into a USB power brick and have it charge while also powering the router. My goal is to have the power brick act like a UPS so that if there's a power outage, it automatically switches to battery power. Is this possible?

Consider looking into "lithium battery UPS" options. I got one that works great and can replace multiple power adapters. Just make sure it’s compatible with your router—that's the key!

For that to work, you'd need a power brick that can take in power through one port and send it out through another, while keeping itself charged. It also needs to switch to battery power instantly when the external power goes down. Most standard USB power bricks don’t have this setup, unfortunately, but it would be super useful!

I've never seen a power brick that functions like a UPS—most just supply power without any storage. Those that do tend to be pricier and bulkier. Do they even exist?

Actually, they're pretty common! Lots of people use them as backup batteries for their phones. But you need to find one that can charge and supply power at the same time.

It's definitely possible, but it really depends on the specific power brick you choose. You might want to check the features before buying one.
