Can I use an 8-pin PCIe and a 6+2 split for a 5070 GPU?

I'm looking to upgrade to a 5070 GPU. Right now, I've got an 8-pin connector connected to my current 3060, and I've also got a 6+2 cable hanging around. I heard the 5070 comes with a dual 8-pin to 16-pin adapter, but I'm unsure if I can use the 6+2 cable with it. Would that work?

Absolutely, but if your power supply is modular and supports another PCIe cable, or if it's non-modular with an extra 8-pin (6+2) PCIe, that's definitely the better route to take!

The 5070 draws a hefty 250 watts, which is pretty close to the limit for a single PCIe cable with a pigtail connector. Ideally, you want to use two separate PCIe cables connecting to the 12v2x6 adapter instead of just one with that split. What model of PSU do you have?

It's an FSP750-50ERN.

The 6+2 connector is pretty standard! Most good power supplies from the last decade come with cables that have both 6 and 2 pin options, so your 8-pin is likely a 6+2 too. Just double-check!

I checked, and yeah, it's a 6+2. Will that impact anything with the 5070?
