My smart TV's HDMI port has stopped working, and tech support advised me that I need to replace the motherboard. However, since my TV also has USB ports, I was wondering if I could use an HDMI to USB converter to connect my HDMI device instead. Would this work, or is there a better solution?

If repairing the motherboard is your only option, it might be worth considering a new TV instead, especially if the repair costs are high.

No, using an HDMI to USB cable won't work because they serve different functions. HDMI is for video and audio, while USB is for data transfers, so there's no direct compatibility here.

Have you considered changing the HDMI cable itself? A faulty cable could be the problem. If all else fails, you might want to look into warranty options if your TV is still covered.

You could try using a different HDMI port on your TV if you have one. Sometimes, the issue might be isolated to just one port. Also, check if the HDMI cable you're using is functioning properly.
