I'm a complete newbie looking to upgrade my old Optiplex and I've got an RX 5600 GPU from a friend. I'm curious if this combo will work properly or if the CPU will severely bottleneck the GPU. I'm planning to play some casual older games like Cities Skylines, GTA 5, Minecraft, and some racing games like Forza Horizon 5 and The Crew. Can anyone provide insights on this setup?

Just make sure your Dell desktop has the necessary power connectors for the GPU. Often, older desktops lack these unless they originally came with a high-end GPU.

It probably will work, but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend sticking with a 15-year-old CPU. Something like a Steam Deck or ROG Ally could provide a better and smoother gaming experience.

Those games you're looking at are more demanding than the i5 2500 can handle well. You’d be lucky to run GTA V smoothly, and Forza Horizon 5? That could be a real struggle, maybe even not capable at all!

Exactly! The i5 2500 is pretty limited, especially with newer titles. You might want to look for a better CPU to get the most out of your GPU.

Yes, it’ll work, but your CPU will definitely bottleneck the RX 5600. If you focus on GPU-heavy titles and crank up the graphics settings, you might still have some fun! Just manage your expectations.

True, but don’t expect miracles! Older games will be okay, but new ones? That’s where things might get dicey.
