I'm currently preparing for the RHCSA certification, but I'm working with an older book that isn't up-to-date. I have a desktop and a few CentOS VMs, and I'm wondering if that's enough for my studies. I've had a tough time getting things to work on an EVENG server, particularly with adding more disk space to already-installed VMs. I'm also considering getting a refurbished desktop to use KVM. Is this setup sufficient for what I need, especially regarding networking? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Using VirtualBox for your VMs is an option! You can set up Red Hat, create a disk, and attach it to the VM. This way, you can easily manage storage and practice commands like pvcreate and lvextend without much hassle.
Check out the sysadmin manual at the Red Hat docs site. It's an excellent resource while you work on your questions. Also, don't forget to use man pages for the command line; it's a handy way to find information!
Just get a developer account and download the ISO for the version you'll be tested on, like RHEL 9.x. That's really all you need. And if you're in the US, I can even send you a great book by Sander Van Gugt that covers everything you need for the exam.
You should definitely sign up for a free Red Hat Developer account. It lets you download the genuine Red Hat software for practice, which is a huge plus for your RHCSA prep. Trust me, using the right tools makes a big difference!
That’s interesting! I tried the developer account but got locked out, so I couldn’t install things like a DNS server. It was so frustrating!
For hands-on experience, actual RHEL is going to be your best bet. The labs and docs from Red Hat are incredibly useful. Also, brush up on nmcli because it's really essential for the exam!
I agree! When I studied for my RHCSA years ago, I had to make do with CentOS, and having access to the developer account would have been a game-changer!
