Can I use my laptop as a monitor for my PS5?

My TV is getting old—it's one of those flat screens with a low refresh rate of 59Hz, and the picture quality isn't great for gaming. I've heard there's a way to use a laptop as a monitor for my PS5, which would be a significant upgrade. I tried connecting my PS5 to my laptop using an HDMI cable, but it didn't work. I'm looking for any tips or advice on how to make this setup work.

If you're looking for a quick fix without spending much, check out used monitors with HDMI inputs at thrift stores like GoodWill. I scored one for about $20 here in Arizona. You might get lucky!

Most laptops have HDMI ports that are just for output, not input. To use your laptop as a monitor, you'll need a laptop with an HDMI input or an external capture device. But keep in mind, this could introduce some latency and you might still be limited to 60Hz. It would probably be easier to get a new TV or a 120Hz gaming monitor for your PS5 instead.

Have you considered using the PS Remote Play app? If your Wi-Fi is decent, you can stream your PS5 games to your laptop. Just make sure your router is up to date for the best experience. I've heard mixed reviews, but it's worth a shot!
