Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building my first custom desktop PC, and I'm wondering if I can repurpose some parts from my working laptop. Specifically, I'm looking at the SSD and possibly the RAM. Are there any other laptop components that would be useful? Also, since the OS is on the SSD, will this save me money on a new Windows license? Thanks for any tips!

Remember, even though you can use the SSD, the Windows license is hardware locked to your laptop. It won't work on a new system, and you might run into issues with drivers or bloatware if you try to move the OS over. A clean install of Windows is usually the best route.
Your SSD may work fine, but definitely not the RAM. Plus, you'll have to get a fresh Windows install and a new license. It's often less hassle that way!
You can definitely use the SSD in your new desktop, just make sure it's a normal M.2 or SATA SSD and check that the ports match. However, the RAM from the laptop won't work because it's a different size compared to desktop RAM, so you're out of luck there.
Yep, the SSD is good to go! Just keep in mind you'll need to invest in a new Windows license, as the one tied to your laptop's motherboard won't transfer over.
