Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a desktop PC and I have a question about how to connect it to the internet. I'd prefer using an Ethernet cable for a faster connection, but my WiFi router is located on the other side of the house from where my PC will be set up. I want to avoid the hassle of tearing down walls to run a cable or buying a long 20-meter Ethernet cable. I've been considering if WiFi repeaters could provide an Ethernet port closer to my PC for a shorter cable run. However, I'm unsure if this would reduce bandwidth or speed. Any advice or alternatives would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you're looking for a reliable internet connection for gaming, using WiFi repeaters might not be the best option since it complicates things a bit. Instead, take a look at powerline Ethernet adapters that utilize your electrical wiring. They often provide a more stable connection than repeaters.
You can definitely find WiFi repeaters that come with Ethernet ports! However, to avoid losing signal quality, make sure to follow some installation tips: keep them away from metal objects, properly position the antennas, and test the signal strength. I game on WiFi 6 with a good setup, and it works just fine for me!
Consider a Mesh WiFi system. Most of these have an Ethernet port on the back, giving you wired connectivity without the hassle of long cables. It's still not as reliable as a direct Ethernet connection, but could be a better option than standard repeaters if set up correctly.

I've got a Mesh setup at home after struggling with my old WiFi. I use a Tenda Nova system and it's been working well, even for video calls. Just keep in mind that there can be some subnetting issues if you're combining it with another router, which can add some complexity.
