Can Linux Mint recognize a BIOS update installed via Windows?

I'm diving into the world of Linux and have chosen Mint as my distribution. I think some issues I'm facing might be resolved with a BIOS update, but I can only perform that update using Windows. If I set up a dual boot with Windows on another drive and update the BIOS from there, will Linux Mint recognize that BIOS update?

Yes, once you update the BIOS through Windows, Linux will definitely see that update. The BIOS runs before any operating system boots up, so it’s independent of what OS you’re using.

Right, a BIOS update is just that—a BIOS update. It's essential software for your motherboard that operates independently from any OS. So, it’ll do its job no matter what you have installed on your drives.

Absolutely! A UEFI (BIOS) update applies to the entire computer, regardless of the operating system currently running. Interestingly, some UEFI configurations even allow updates without an OS installed. Just a heads up, though, I wouldn’t categorize BIOS updates as drivers since they’re more about firmware. Drivers themselves can't really be shared between Windows and Linux.
