I'm planning to buy a new monitor and I'm stuck between choosing a 1080p or a 1440p option. I have an RTX 3070 graphics card and an R5 processor. Will the RTX 3070 be able to handle gaming at 1440p? I primarily play shooter and story-driven games, so I want to ensure a smooth experience.

Benchmark tests show that the RTX 3070 performs well at 1440p. You can expect good results in quite a few titles.

I've used an RTX 3070 Ti, which is quite similar, and it handled 1440p decently. Just keep in mind that for modern games, you might need to lower the graphics settings or use DLSS to hit those higher frame rates consistently. If you're aiming for 100+ FPS without adjustments, I'd say stick to 1080p.

Absolutely! I’ve got the same setup, and I can still get solid FPS in many games at 1440p. Sure, you won’t always be at max settings for newer titles, but that’s not a dealbreaker if the gameplay is engaging.

No worries—1440p is totally doable! Just keep an eye on settings; you may need to tweak them occasionally, but the RTX 3070 can handle most games without too much fuss.

Yeah, I've found capping the FPS around 80 gives a smooth experience for AAA games like Cyberpunk and Dying Light 2, even at higher settings.
