I'm putting together my first new PC build since my 1080Ti from about eight years ago. I'm not a complete newbie, but I often worry about missing a compatibility detail and ending up with delays for parts. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my parts list and let me know if there are any significant compatibility issues.
**Here's what I'm planning to use:**
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermaltake TH280 V2 Ultra ARGB Sync 84.32 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
- **Motherboard**: ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi Mini ITX AM5 Motherboard
- **Memory**: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 × 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
- **Storage**: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
- **Video Card**: PNY OC GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB
- **Case**: Thermaltake TR100 Mini ITX Desktop Case
- **Power Supply**: Cooler Master V850 SFX GOLD 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular SFX PSU
- **Operating System**: Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM – DVD 64-bit
**Compatibility Notes from PCPartPicker**:
- Ensure that the PCIe 16-pin 12VHPWR connector is powered by separate PCIe 6+2-pin cables, not daisy chained.
- I'm concerned if my case can accommodate the Thermaltake TH280 V2 280 mm radiator.
- There are some physical constraints that aren't automatically flagged, like RAM clearance with big CPU coolers.
If anyone has insights on this case, cooler, or GPU fitting, I'd love your thoughts and any tips you might have!

The 280mm AIO cooler is the main concern here, as mini ITX cases often struggle with fitting that size. Even if it says it fits, the pipes and cooler plate can create problems. I’d recommend checking PCPartPicker for builds using your case to see how people managed it. Also, that CPU doesn't really need more than a 120mm air cooler—might make life easier if you switch!
Consider using 6000CL28 RAM, or at the least 6000CL30. I'm not familiar with the case, so I can't advise on the clearance issues, though.
Thanks for the RAM advice!
I'd focus on changing that ASRock motherboard. They've had issues that might end up damaging X3D CPUs, which you definitely want to avoid!
Thanks for the heads-up! Any recommendations for a better motherboard or brand?
I'd steer clear of the ASRock motherboard if I were you. There have been some issues reported with them recently that might affect the performance of your X3D CPU.
Thanks, I’ll definitely look into other brands!
Could you suggest a decent air cooler that would fit? I chose that AIO because I saw it in similar builds, but if it's overkill, I’m open to switching.
