I've got a build with a Ryzen 5 5600G and an RX 6650 XT that I've been using with a 1080p monitor. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1440p monitor and I'm curious if my GPU will manage that or if I'll need to invest in a new one.

Honestly, I don't think the RX 6650 XT is the best fit for 1440p gaming. You might want to look into getting a new GPU to really enjoy those higher resolutions.
I've just switched to 1440p with my RX 6650 XT and I recently got a new monitor. I've tested some games like Cyberpunk at low settings and was able to hit over 60 FPS, but honestly, it's not really meant for 1440p gaming. If you're playing older or less demanding games, it might be okay, but for AAA titles, you might want to consider an upgrade soon.
It’s not the best option, honestly. For 1440p, you typically want a card with at least 12-16 GB of VRAM. Cards like the 9060 XT or even a 9070 would be much better suited for those settings.
I’m using a 5600X with a 6750 XT for 1440p, and it runs pretty well. Just make sure your GPU has good cooling to handle the extra demands.
