Can Watching NSFW Videos on Reddit Put My iPhone 11 at Risk?

I have an iPhone 11 running iOS 16.6, but I can't update yet because my battery health is at 72%, and I'm worried an update would make it worse. I recently viewed NSFW content for the first time on the Reddit app, and I'm feeling a bit guilty about it. I'm concerned that watching these videos might expose my phone to malware or viruses, especially since I'm a newbie on Reddit and this app auto-plays videos without audio. I tend to be a bit paranoid about hackers, but I'm also reluctant to risk degrading my battery health by updating. Can using Reddit like this really compromise my device's security?

Honestly, the worry about malware from porn sites is overstated. As long as you’re just watching through the app and not clicking on anything shady, you should be totally fine. Apple’s app restriction really helps keep things safe.

It's not the content that can be harmful but rather the sketchy sites hosting it. As long as you stick to the Reddit app and don’t download anything, you should be good. iOS has robust security, so you’re less likely to get any viruses compared to other platforms.

Generally, iPhones are more secure than Androids. Watching GIFs or videos on Reddit shouldn't harm your device. Just avoid downloading anything if you're really concerned.

Not really, you're safe to watch those videos on Reddit. Just keep in mind, don't click on any links to other sites, and you should be fine. Reddit content itself isn't a threat.
