Can We Use an Existing KMS Server for a New Cluster with Windows Server 2025?

Hey everyone,

We've set up a new cluster (Cluster 2) in our data center that will only run VMs with Windows Server 2025. Our existing Cluster 1 is currently running only Windows Server 2016, and we already have a KMS license server set up there.

My question is: Can we still use the existing KMS server from Cluster 1 for Cluster 2 by simply adding the license keys for Windows Server 2025, or do we need to set up a new KMS server for Cluster 2? I appreciate any help you can offer!

KMS licenses are typically downgrade rights friendly, so if your KMS server is set up through Active Directory, you should be able to just add the new keys for Windows Server 2025 without needing to set up a new server. Just make sure everything is configured properly!

How can I tell if the server is set up through Active Directory or not?
