I'm looking for some honest feedback before I make any big decisions about my career. I'm considering a transition into a DevOps role after three years in a support position. However, I've noticed that many DevOps jobs in India come with rotational shifts, including night shifts, which I'm really not keen on. I'm asking if it's realistic to build a DevOps career here without having to deal with those night shifts? If so, what types of companies or roles should I be looking at while I build my skills for DevOps?

From my 13 years in the field, I’ve never encountered rotational shifts or on-calls in my DevOps roles. It seems like some employers might just be labeling support engineer positions as DevOps. If you focus on companies that don't do much client-facing support, you can avoid the shifts.
Thanks for your reply! You’ve given me a bit of hope. Just to ask, are you based in India? What tools are you using daily, and how can I spot actual DevOps roles in job descriptions?
