I'm a sysadmin at a small organization, and we set up Ricoh printers in all our buildings over the summer. However, I've been getting reports from users with Chromebooks that PDFs they send to the printers just aren't coming out at all. The logs indicate that the jobs were successful, and the printers report successful prints, but no paper comes out—not even a blank sheet. I reached out to Ricoh, but they said it was strange and that they hadn't heard of this issue before. Has anyone else experienced this? If yes, what steps did you take to resolve it?

Could you share what Ricoh models you have? That could definitely help in troubleshooting this.
I had a similar issue with our Sharp copiers. But when we switched to 'print as image' option, it seemed to work better. You might want to give that a shot with your PDFs.
It’s definitely a possibility to get this working. Try selecting 'Manually' when adding the printer and choose an HP model that supports PCL6. Most Ricoh printers can handle HP Emulation, which might resolve your issue.
Here’s how you can add the printer:
1. Open your Chromebook Settings by clicking the time in the bottom-right corner and selecting the gear icon.
2. Scroll down to Advanced in the Settings menu and go to Printers.
3. Hit the + Add printer button. If your printer appears, just add it. If not, click 'Add Manually.'
4. Enter a name, IP address, use IPP for the protocol, and 'ipp/print' for the queue if asked. Click Add to finish up.
Have you tried re-releasing the job from the Ricoh print log? If it still doesn't go through, you may want to suspect that the job file itself is causing problems.

Using a driver from a different manufacturer sounds complicated and could lead to more issues down the line. Just hoping it works without creating too many headaches!
