Hey folks, I'm in a bit of a jam here. I've got an iPhone 16 Pro Max that has my SIM card and phone number, but I also have an iPhone 12 Pro Max that I transferred the SIM from, and now it doesn't have a number at all. Before I updated to iOS 26, I could send and receive messages and FaceTime calls on my iPhone 12 using my phone number when connected to Wi-Fi. Now, I can't seem to do any of that anymore. I've tried restarting both devices, signing in and out, and toggling iMessage and FaceTime on and off, but nothing works. I really need some help!

Just a heads up, if you remove the SIM card, you can usually only send and receive iMessages with the old number for about 30 days. It’s just a built-in safeguard from Apple.
It looks like you might need to register your phone number for iMessage again. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and make sure your phone number is checked. Are you getting any error messages? If so, what does it say?
