Choosing Between 7800X3D and 9800X3D: Is the Extra £80 Worth It?

I'm planning to spend £1000 on a new PC setup and I already have a GPU, so I'm focusing on the CPU. I'm deciding between the 7800X3D and the 9800X3D, with only an £80 price difference. I'm unsure if the 9800X3D requires better cooling or a different motherboard, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one I should go for. Thanks!

I’m in the same situation, but it really depends on the games you play. I’m leaning toward the 9800X3D because I often play CPU-heavy games. Also, think about how long you plan to keep this build. If it's a long-term upgrade for you, the 9800X3D could be the way to go.

The 9800X3D is roughly 17% faster, but think about your overall setup. If you don't have a GPU yet, it might be smarter to save that £80 for upgrading to a better one. However, if you already have a good GPU and you're just looking to boost your CPU, then the 9800X3D would be worth it.

Both CPUs are quite efficient. You can use a budget-friendly air cooler like the Peerless Assassin and it'll work just fine—not like those Intel i9 or i7 chips that can be a bit risky. The 9800X3D is around 10% faster, but if you're looking for value, the 7800X3D might be the better pick for you.
