Hey everyone! I'm building a new PC and I've already got most of my components sorted out like the PSU, RAM, motherboard, case, and SSD. Now I'm stuck deciding on the CPU. I'm considering either the 7600X at $100 or the 7700 at $130, both used. My GPU is a 6950XT, and I'll be gaming at 1440p. I'm mostly into games like War Thunder, GTA V, Warzone 2, Battlefield 6, Forza, and Farming Simulator 19. Since Farming Simulator is pretty unoptimized and relies heavily on a single core, I'm curious about how the single-core performance of these CPUs stacks up. Any insights would be great!

I'd recommend the 7700. The 7600X might be slightly better in games that rely on single-core performance, but with some tuning, you can get the 7700 to match it in those scenarios. Plus, the additional cores will help a lot in other games that take advantage of them.
I think the 7700 is the better choice since it has two more cores. If the extra $30 isn’t a big deal for you, go for it! It’ll give you better performance, especially in games that can utilize those extra cores.
Honestly, spending just $30 more on the 7700 is a smart move. While the performance difference isn’t huge, the extra cores can handle more CPU overhead which is definitely valuable.
Thanks! Do you know if the 7700 performs as well or better than the 7600X in single-core games?

But does having extra cores really make a difference in gaming?
