My high school son needs a bigger monitor than his laptop for online schooling, since he spends a lot of hours on the screen. The space under his desk hutch is 38.5 inches wide, and I'm considering a desk mount. Should I go for two 19-inch monitors to fit in the space, or get one larger monitor? Ideally, I'd like to stick to a budget of under $300 for one monitor, but if I decide on two, I can stretch to around $309 total. One of the main uses will be having his reading material open on one screen while he takes notes on the other side, as last year he struggled with switching back and forth, which really slowed him down. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I think having two monitors can really help with productivity, but 19 inches is pretty small. Maybe consider getting one monitor around 24 inches and mount it vertically alongside a horizontal one. You can find affordable monitors under $100 on Amazon, like this one or that one. I've had good experiences with those models myself.
Thanks for sharing those examples! What’s a vertical monitor typically used for? Would it be good for reading pages on that one to scroll less while typing on the other?
