I'm looking for some honest feedback on backup solutions, especially between Veritas and Veeam. Which one do you think is the best option? Additionally, what other solutions have you found to be effective?

When in doubt, go with Veeam! It's generally the go-to solution for many. Just keep in mind it has limitations at scale; it's not a one-size-fits-all solution.
We've been using NetBackup from Veritas, and it's generally performing well. It works especially good for our 120 VMs and some physical machines. Just to note, their Hyper-V support isn't as strong as VMware’s, which can be a letdown for hybrid setups.
We switched from Unitrends to Veeam for our VM backups at my SME, and it's been a great move so far. However, Veeam's pricing for backing up NAS devices got really high, which was a bummer.
Totally agree! Their pricing per 500GB can really add up. But if you're using Veeam Agent, you can manage multiple large volumes under one license, which helps.
I've been using Veeam and honestly, the licensing has been a nightmare. I'm sure things aren't any better with Veritas. They keep adding unnecessary features and raising prices, which feels a bit deceptive. Just my experience, but I’d recommend looking into other options too.
Working with a reseller can save you a lot of trouble with licensing. We partnered with Managecast, and they've been great at helping us navigate the costs.
The right solution really depends on your specific needs and infrastructure. For instance, Acronis Cyber Protect might be a cheaper alternative that fits your requirements well.
I've heard good things about Veeam, but I've also read that if you can afford it, Rubrik is an option some people like. Just be warned—I've had a rough experience with them and their support is really lacking.
Same here! Rubrik didn't live up to the hype for us. Their support is terrible; definitely not worth the money!

That's true! Veeam's a solid tool, but there are definitely gaps, especially for large scale environments.
