I'm a bit lost when it comes to connecting my GPU. Right now, I'm using a 1060, which requires a 6-pin power cable. My friend gave me his old 1070, but I ran into a problem: it seems to have a different connection setup. The 1070 has a total of 12 pins. From what I read, all 12 pins need to be hooked up for it to work properly. I looked for the right cable and couldn't find it, especially since I believe it should've come with my power supply, but it's long gone after 10 years. Can anyone help me find the right cable for this GPU? I've seen some warnings about power needs, especially for newer models like the 3070, and I'm not sure what's safe to use.

It sounds like your 1070 might actually have two 6-pin connectors instead of a single 12-pin connector. If that's the case, you should be able to use the 6-pin cable you have. However, if it runs on 8 pin connections, just using your 6-pin and the additional two should work fine, but always double-check the specs to ensure it's safe!

Yeah, the 1070 typically uses either a single 8-pin or dual 6-pin. Just make sure you don’t overload the power supply!
