I'm in the process of setting up my new place and I've been thinking about my monitor connections. I typically run three monitors: my main gaming monitor uses a DisplayPort (DP) to DisplayPort cable, while the other two are using DisplayPort to HDMI cables. I'm curious if it matters which end of the DP to HDMI cable I plug into, like should the DP side go into my GPU or my monitors, or does it need to go a specific way for everything to function correctly? Thanks for any advice!

DisplayPort to HDMI cables are one-way connections, meaning the DP end should always connect to the source, which is your computer, and the HDMI end should go to the monitor. So no matter where you plug it in, if it’s a DP to HDMI cable, the HDMI will always be the output for your side monitors.

Got it! So basically, using those cables means my side monitors will always behave like HDMI, right? If I want them to work as DP monitors, I should switch to DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables instead?
