Hey everyone! I'm super excited about transitioning from my gaming laptop to a serious desktop setup focused on high-performance gaming, mainly at 1440p or 4K. Here's the build I've been working on and I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or any insights on it!
**PC Build:**
- **GPU:** Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- **Motherboard:** MSI B650M Project Zero Gaming
- **Case:** MSI MAG Pano M100R PZ (Micro-ATX)
- **PSU:** MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5, 850W, Fully Modular
- **Cooler:** Thermalright CORE VISION 360 AIO
- **Storage:** Lexar NQ790 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD
- **RAM:** Lexar ARES RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL26, SK Hynix A-die, EXPO
Any thoughts on whether my components are compatible and if I've made any choices that are off the mark? Thanks!

I think the CL26 RAM is a bit overkill since the X3D CPUs aren't that sensitive to RAM speed due to their large L3 cache. You might want to consider settling for CL30 RAM instead to save some cash.
Actually, RAM timings can help a lot with the X3D. I've seen better performance with optimizations like the Hynix 6000 CL30 timings than just using EXPO alone.
Overall, your build looks good! Just double-check the compatibility of your components and it should work fine without issues.
That GPU choice is solid, but consider downgrading to the 5070Ti unless you can find the 5080 at MSRP. The performance difference isn’t worth the extra cost—especially with rumors of a 5080 variant coming out with more VRAM down the line. Plus, you might want to think about a cheaper cooler, like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit Evo, which performs just as well but costs a lot less. Savings could go towards upgrades elsewhere, like a better monitor or gaming chair!
I appreciate the insights! I’m just overly cautious about compatibility, especially since I don’t have much experience.
What would you recommend as a budget-friendly alternative?
