Considering an Upgrade to a 7800 XT: Is It Worth It?

Hey everyone! I'm currently running a prebuilt PC where I've upgraded the CPU to a 5700x3d and added 32GB of RAM. Right now, I have a 5700xt graphics card, and I've been thinking about whether I should upgrade to a 7800xt. I primarily game at 1080p and don't plan on getting a new monitor anytime soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this upgrade!

Are you looking at buying new or used? If you find a good deal on used hardware, I’d say go for the 9060 or 9070XT instead; they perform really well right now!

Yeah, I worry about bottlenecking with my CPU too, which is why I'm hesitant.

Consider going for a 9060 XT instead. It could offer a nice improvement over your current card.

Do you think that'll be a significant upgrade? I'm pretty much just wanting it rather than needing it.

Have you thought about getting a 9600XT 16GB instead? It's more than enough for 1080p gaming and comes with FSR4 support, which could be a nice bonus.

As someone who owns a 7800 XT, I’d actually recommend skipping the 7000 series unless you’re into competitive FPS games. FSR 3 isn’t great, and I've faced a lot of driver issues with it, especially for games that have ray tracing.

I mainly play single-player games on my Linux dual boot, so that hasn't been an issue for me.
