Considering SAN Upgrade Options: Need Advice on Greenlake and Other Brands

Hey everyone! I'm currently planning for Disaster Recovery and looking to upgrade our storage with our SANs. Right now, we have a Nimble HPE SAN that requires a 12-bundle SSD package for an upgrade, but it's reaching end-of-support in 5 years. They offer a very pricey Greenlake option with onsite support, which I don't really need right now, but it seems they won't sell the SSD bundle without those extras.

I'm also thinking about upgrading to their latest MP SAN models, but that would mean buying new fiber channel switches as well. Dell is another option, but I'd prefer to stick with the HPE ecosystem since we're using ProLiant servers.

Has anyone had positive experiences with Greenlake? Is it mandatory for upgrades? Should I consider other brands instead, and if so, what do you recommend? Any suggestions would be really helpful, thanks!

If you have a budget to work with, I’d suggest looking into Pure Storage. They’re a bit pricey at first, but they have a program called Evergreen, which allows you to keep upgrading the hardware as long as you continue paying for maintenance. It’s definitely something to consider down the line!

I’ve heard of them before but never looked into it. I’ll check it out, thanks!
