Could I Have Been Hacked After Downloading a File?

I recently asked for help in an editing group to extend a sound for TikTok. A guy offered to help without charging, which I found unusual. He sent me a Google Drive link with the extended sound, and I downloaded it onto my iPhone. Everything worked great, but afterward, he deleted his entire account, which feels suspicious. Now I'm worried—how can I check if my iPhone has been hacked?

If you’re worried about your phone being hacked, look for any unfamiliar apps or settings changes. You can also run a security scan with available apps to check for malware. Just remember that if it’s been just an audio file, the hacking risk is minimal.

One thing you might want to do is change your passwords for important accounts, just in case. Also, keep an eye on your phone’s performance. If it keeps overheating, that could indicate a problem. Try resetting your phone to see if that helps with the heat issue.

It sounds like a pretty typical situation for file sharing. If the file was just audio, there’s not much he could do to hack you. That said, it is strange he deleted his account. Maybe he just didn’t want to stick around for long. But just to be safe, check your phone for any strange apps or settings. If something feels off, it’s always better to err on the side of caution!
