Could I have been SIM swapped during a gaming session?

I've been having some issues with my phone service after a strange incident while gaming. I was invited to a chat by some players who said they wanted to run tests on my WiFi. Suddenly, my WiFi disconnected. After joining back on my mobile data to ask them to fix it, they did, and things seemed fine. However, now my iPhone 18 is completely disconnected from its cellular provider, showing 'no service' and just SOS. I've tried toggling airplane mode and other troubleshooting steps, but nothing has worked. One of the guys in the chat mentioned he could do 'very powerful things.' Do you think I've been SIM swapped? If so, what actions should I take? Thanks for any help!

What likely happened is you got booted from their game server, not that your WiFi was actually turned off. Have you installed any programs from them? Just check to be safe.

Oh, you’re the admin of your WiFi, huh? That's a whole other level! But seriously, only your provider can swap your SIM, so just talk to them if you’re worried.

No way you've been SIM swapped just because someone turned off your WiFi. That guy doesn't have the power to duplicate your SIM. It might be worth calling your mobile provider—ask them what's up. They’ll have the answers you need.

Yeah, I’ll definitely give them a call tomorrow when they’re open. Just really freaked out because I couldn’t find any outages either.

Totally understand! This has never happened to me before, and it’s super stressful. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Unless you gave the guy access to your router, he's unlikely to have turned off your WiFi. For your SIM issue, if restarting doesn’t help, take the phone to your provider's store for a checkup.

Dude, it sounds like you might just need to restart your phone. A guy online can't magically swap your SIM like that. If you're still having trouble after a restart, definitely call your provider—they'll get you sorted out!
